Couples Counseling
Is there something missing in your relationship like trust, intimacy or good communication? Do the same problems and arguments keep coming up? Has there been a betrayal or an affair?
When relationships aren't going right, it can take the life and energy right out of you. Spending so much time fighting or trying to get your way is getting you no closer to a solution. Couples counseling can help you resolve past hurt or challenges and move you towards a place of love, commitment and satisfaction.
My Approach
I am level II trained in the Gottman Method, a therapy derived from the famous couples researcher John Gottman. He created this methodology keeping in mind the results of 40 years of research on what makes relationships happy and long lasting. Every couples has relationship strengths and weakness. In counseling we will magnify those strengths and beginning working on the areas needing growth. This theory truly helps couples build basic relationship and conflict management skills as well as helping create shared meaning.
Combining the lives of two distinct individuals can be demanding and confusing. Coming in for counseling does not mean you have failed. Instead, it means you are striving to increase satisfaction within the relationship. Areas many couples need help with include but are not limited to:
- Communication habits
- Roles in the household
- Intimacy
- Infidelity
- Quality time spent together
- Trust
- Conflict resolution
- Premarital Counseling
- Finances
- Divorce
- Stepchildren
